General information
IceCube-Cascade 260824A is an IceCube neutrino alert for which IceCube searched for additional track-like muon neutrino events around the alert time and direction. The searches found no significant excess beyond the original alert event.
Wavelength coverage
- Neutrino: IceCube searched a 1000 s window centered on 2026-08-24 01:40:08.903 UTC and a 2-day window centered on the same alert time.
- Neutrino: Excluding the alert event, zero track-like events were found in the 1000 s search within the 90% containment region, with p-value 1.00.
- Neutrino: The 2-day search gave p-value 0.86, consistent with no significant excess of track events.
No observations were mentioned in electromagnetic, gravitational-wave, or other non-neutrino bands.
Lightcurve and spectrum
- The 1000 s search covered 2026-08-24 01:31:48.903 UTC to 2026-08-24 01:48:28.903 UTC.
- The 2-day search covered 2026-08-23 01:40:08.903 UTC to 2026-08-25 01:40:08.903 UTC.
- For an E^-2.5 spectrum, the 1000 s sensitivity expressed as E^2 dN/dE at 1 TeV ranged from 1.4e-01 to 1.6e-01 GeV cm^-2 within the 90% containment region.
- For the same spectrum, the 2-day sensitivity ranged from 1.6e-01 to 1.9e-01 GeV cm^-2.
- IceCube reports that 90% of detectable events from a source at this declination with an E^-2.5 spectrum would have energies approximately between 2e+02 GeV and 6e+04 GeV.
