General information
IceCube-260712A is an IceCube Bronze high-energy track-like neutrino candidate detected on 2026-07-12 at 11:06:48.98 UT, with refined position RA 200.11 deg and Dec 48.29 deg. The reported atmospheric-background false alarm rate is 0.147 events per year, and follow-up circulars report no identified counterpart.
Wavelength coverage
- Neutrino: IceCube detected the original track-like event and found zero additional track-like events in both 1000 s and 2 day searches centered on the alert time, with p-value 1.00 in each search.
- Gamma-ray: Fermi-LAT found no cataloged FL16Y source in the 90% localization and no significant >5 sigma new >100 MeV excess; reported 95% flux upper limits are <1.0e-10 ph cm^-2 s^-1 over ~18 years, <4.9e-09 ph cm^-2 s^-1 over 1 month, and <4.2e-08 ph cm^-2 s^-1 over 1 day before T0.
- Optical: LAST observed the full 90% neutrino footprint starting 31.8 hours after T0 and found no candidate transient counterpart to average 5-sigma limiting magnitude 20.1 AB.
- Optical: ZTF observed in g and r bands starting 41.9 hours after T0, covered 97.5% of the reported localization region, and found no candidate counterparts to typical depth 21.0 mag.
Bands with no observations mentioned: X-ray, radio, infrared, ultraviolet, gravitational waves.
Lightcurve and spectrum
- Fermi-LAT analysis assumed a power-law spectrum with photon index 2.0 fixed for flux upper limits at the IceCube best-fit position.
- IceCube point-source sensitivity for an E^-2.5 neutrino spectrum was reported as E^2 dN/dE at 1 TeV of 1.5e-01 GeV cm^-2 for 1000 s and 1.8e-01 GeV cm^-2 for 2 days.
- For an E^-2.5 source at this declination, 90% of IceCube-detectable events are expected in the approximate energy range 2e+02 to 5e+04 GeV.
