General information
GRB 260708B was reported as a bright uncatalogued X-ray transient detected by the MAXI/GSC nova alert system at 16:43:12 UT on 2026-07-08. The reported position is RA 342.139 deg, Dec -3.776 deg, with an elliptical statistical error region and additional systematic uncertainty.
Wavelength coverage
- X-ray: MAXI/GSC detected the transient in the 4.0-10.0 keV band with an average scan flux of 172 +/- 25 mCrab.
No observations are mentioned in gamma-ray, optical, infrared, ultraviolet, radio, gravitational-wave, or neutrino bands.
Lightcurve and spectrum
- No significant excess flux was detected in the previous transit at 15:10 UT or the next transit at 18:16 UT, with upper limits of 20 mCrab for each.
- The reported X-ray flux is averaged over the scan under the assumption of constant source flux.
