GRB 260131B is reported as a bright, uncatalogued X-ray transient detected by the MAXI/GSC nova alert system at 06:43:02 UT on 2026-01-31, localized near RA=24.348 deg, Dec=34.351 deg (J2000).

Lightcurve and spectrum

The scan-averaged 4.0–10.0 keV flux was 801 ± 56 mCrab. No significant excess was seen in the previous (05:10 UT) and next (08:16 UT) MAXI transits, with an upper limit of 20 mCrab for each.

What’s special vs typical

The reported X-ray transient is very bright during the triggering scan and is not significantly detected in the immediately preceding/following scans, indicating rapid variability on hour timescales.
