General information
EP260707a was initially reported as an Einstein Probe WXT X-ray transient with an FXT uncatalogued X-ray source inside the WXT error circle, but subsequent EP telemetry analysis concluded that EP260707a is not a real transient and that the FXT source is a coincidental alignment.
Wavelength coverage
- X-ray: EP-WXT triggered at 2026-07-07T16:45:24 UTC; EP-FXT detected an uncatalogued X-ray source within the WXT error circle, later judged not to be a counterpart.
- Optical: TRT found no uncatalogued source to R ~ 21.0 Vega at 1.52 hr; LCOGT found no source to r > 22.1 and i > 21.6 at 3.28-3.83 hr; NOT found no new optical transient to r ~ 23.0 AB at 8.41 hr.
No radio, infrared, ultraviolet, gamma-ray, gravitational-wave, or neutrino observations were mentioned.
Lightcurve and spectrum
- Optical non-detections were reported at 1.52 hr, 3.28-3.83 hr, and 8.41 hr post-trigger.
- No spectral information was reported.
Redshift
What’s special vs typical
- The key atypical feature is that the event was explicitly retracted as not a real transient after telemetry analysis.
